Five Element Acupuncture
Five –Element Acupuncture is an ancient form of acupuncture that treats not only the body, but also the mind, heart and spirit. The five elements are fire, earth, metal, water and wood, which correspond to emotions that must remain in balance in order to maintain health.
Five element acupuncture stems from the wisdom of the ancients in China, starting about 2000 BCE. This predates what is known to us in America as “Traditional Chinese Medicine.” TCM was the only method taught during the era of the Cultural Revolution in China, and much of the ancient methods were lost.
Lana Garner, DOM, and Leah Teekell Taylor, MD, utilize the art of Chinese Pulse Diagnosis and the treatment of emotional and spiritual imbalances. Five-element techniques are used as pioneered in our country by Lonny Jarret, LAC, with whom they are currently studying in Stockbridge, MA. Lonny has spent his life deciphering the ancient Chinese texts and has brought to life the practices based on the thought of the ancient Chinese philosophers.
